Eva Müller

Eva has over 40 years of experience in forestry development, ranging from field-based work in developing countries to global leadership positions.
Through development and donor organisations, she has worked extensively in Africa, Latin America and Asia as well as in Germany. Her work included a range of forestry subjects from natural forest management, agroforestry and planted forests to forest governance and policy.
Throughout her career, she has repeatedly been involved with forest certification, from developing certification standards to providing assistance to forest owners in obtaining forest certification.
From 2001 to 2004, Eva was Assistant Director for Reforestation and Forest Management of the International Tropical Timber Organisation (ITTO) in Japan. In 2004, she joined FAO where she became Director of the Forestry Policy and Resources Division at FAO Headquarters in Rome. From 2019 to 2021, Eva was Director General of Forests, Sustainability and Renewable Resources at the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Berlin.
She has a Master’s Degree in Forestry from Yale University in the US and a PhD in Natural Resources from the University of Hamburg in Germany. She currently works as a freelance consultant based in Rome.
