Estonian Forest Certification Council
History before PEFC
On 29 October 2001, the Estonian Forest Certification Council was founded as a not for profit, non-government association by initiation of Estonian private forest owners and participation of a range of other relevant stakeholders. The aim of the association was to promote the application of principles of sustainable forestry in Estonian forests by developing the forest certification model suitable for Estonian conditions and being in accordance with requirements of PEFC. The Estonian Forest Certification Council acquired PEFC membership in November 2002.
What are the benefits of being part of the PEFC alliance?
Being part of the PEFC alliance is a good chance to meet up with like-minded people and organizations, to share our experiences on sustainable and responsible forestry issues and to get valuable support from the alliance.
