Event
Global demand for wood is expected to triple by 2050, but how do we secure a sustainable wood supply for the next generations?
Opportunities for the furniture sector were the focus of the ASEAN International Furniture and Furnishings show on 9 March. Our CEO Ben Gunneberg gave an insight into the important role of sustainable forest management practices in meeting global demand for wood, and in ensuring that forests stay forests and will be around for generations to come.
Hosted by the ASEAN Furniture Industry Council (AFIC), the event took place virtually from 9 to 18 March, bringing together key players of the furniture industry.
Part of the event was the AFIC Forum on 9 March, 7:00 – 9:00 am CET with the theme “Rethinking the Business Resilience: Reacting and Realizing the opportunities of the New Business Normal beyond Covid for the ASEAN furniture industries”.
Following the panel discussion Industry Analysis: Future of the (ASEAN) Furniture Industry – Coping up with the Crisis and Opportunities, Ben Gunneberg gave an insight into sustainable forest management, its importance for people and planet, and the benefits of certification for furniture companies.
