Sustainable Rubber: How PEFC connects new supply with growing demand
Sustainable Rubber: How PEFC connects new supply with growing demand
Rubber event
2021 has been a year of game-changing developments in the rubber value chain. On the supply side, we’ve seen large-scale forest management certification achieved by the Vietnam Rubber Group (VRG) and a new supply of controlled sources rubberwood coming onto the market thanks to the hard work of PEFC member, the Malaysian Timber Certification Council (MTCC).
On the demand side, these new supplies are matched by the first-of-its-kind chain of custody certification for sustainable rubber for Hamburg-based rubber trader Weber & Schaer, and Unilin’s network of individual and multi-site chain of custody certifications for rubberwood, which they turn into sustainable wooden flooring.
Trendsetters like these are leading the way across the whole value chain. As the year draws to a close, new supplies of high-quality sustainable rubber are meeting growing demand in Europe and across the world.
But there are growing pains. Buyers are struggling to source certified sustainable rubber, and producers are often in the dark about the growing demand. PEFC is here to help by fostering market linkages. We’re committed to raising the bar on sustainability and helping all our partners reach higher.
If you are a buyer trying to source certified sustainable rubber, or a producer seeking market access, this webinar is for you. PEFC can help you build the partnerships that you need by connecting you with industry trendsetters who have come before.
