PEFC Sweden announced the winners of its ‘Upplev skogen – upplev PEFC!’ (‘Experience Forests – Experience PEFC’) photo contest.
With more than 200 wonderful images entered into the contest, choosing three winners was not an easy task for the Swedish jury.
The winning images
First prize went to Ulf Troeng for his photo ‘Blåbärsskogen’ (The Blueberry Forest), showing a young girl on her search for chanterelles.
“On the photo you can see my niece stepping into the forest in search of chanterelles,” said the winning photographer. “It was such a beautiful autumn day with clear air, blue sky and sunshine. A lovely moment in the forest together with the family.”
Monica Larsson came in second with her photo ‘Nyfiken’ (Curious).
“On a wonderful morning in the forest, suddenly a curious fox puppy came by, on its own little adventure without its siblings,” she said.
Katharina Svensson Vikström won third prize for a summery photo, accompanied with the words “In my dreams”.
The photo shows a gravel road winding its way through a birch forest on an early summer evening in the Swedish countryside.
The prizes
For first place, Mr. Troeng receives Peugeot spice mills made of PEFC-certified beech wood.
Ms. Larsson wins a copy of the book "Birds in Swedish folk tradition" by ethnobiologist Ingvar Svanberg.
Ms. Svensson Vikström can look forward to a practical backpack – perfect for carrying snacks for a day in the forest.
