Presenting a showcase of sustainability in the furniture industry, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) Green Pavilion is returning for the third time to the International Furniture Fair Singapore 2014, this time with the participation of PEFC, the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification.
Recognizing the significance of environmental certifications as a tool to validate green standards, the Green Pavilion 2014 will benefit from the attendance of PEFC, the world’s leading certification system, alongside five other international and local environmental certification bodies.
Taking place on 13 and 14 March 2014, the Green Pavilion will bring also feature a variety of exhibitors such as furniture, furnishing companies, landscapers, and sustainable, providing a platform for exploration of sustainability concepts and practices. Visitors are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the role of sustainability certification as businesses gear up to meet new environmental demands from regulatory bodies and markets.
Always looking at new ideas, the Green Pavilion 2014 breaks new ground in the use of cardboard as the key structural material, departing from regular plywood exhibition stands. Drawing inspiration from acclaimed architect Shigeru Ban's work on use of cardboard and paper to create inspirational architectural masterpieces, the Green Pavilion is made up of 300 cardboard hexagons that can be rearranged to thousands of permutations offering limitless possibilities to the Pavilion structure.
