We are delighted to announce that Siti Syaliza Mustapha is our new Deputy Secretary General and COO. Siti has been in her new position since 1 March.

Siti joins us from our national member in Malaysia, MTCC, where she was their CEO since 2021. She has over 20 years’ experience in international timber trade policies and market requirements, forest certification and stakeholder management.

After joining MTCC in 2012, Siti was responsible for overseeing the development of forest management certification standards and the implementation of the forest management certification programme.

“The paramount role of forests in providing a sustainable source of material while maintaining the global ecological balance is more important now than ever,” said Siti following her arrival in the PEFC International team.

“I am honoured, humbled and excited to join the PEFC global family, to work together to explore and offer solutions to the complex societal and ecological demands and challenges that we face today towards an equitable and sustainable future.”

Prior to joining MTCC, Siti served as the Director of Public and Corporate Affairs at the Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) and represented Malaysia in various regional and international meetings such as the ASEAN Senior Officials on Forestry, International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC), Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES) and ISO/TC207.

“With over 20 years of experience in tropical forestry, Siti is well known in this arena and specifically in the certification world,” said Michael Berger, PEFC International CEO, on welcoming Siti to the team. “Her competencies and experience will be a strong asset for PEFC and our further development.”

Siti joins the PEFC International team based predominantly in Geneva, but also around Europe and Southeast Asia. Meet the team.
